Was established in 2010 with the objective of empowering black women in South Africa
by providing education bursaries. The bursaries are available to eligible South African
Black Women who choose a field of study as designated by the Trust from time to time.

About Us

The focus of the Trust is to assist previously disadvantaged young women of colour in obtaining a tertiary education.
The young women that we support would not have had an opportunity to study further without the Trust. By funding these Students we ensure they are able to obtain a tertiary qualification . Which not only helps them but provides support to their families as the Trust pays for tuition, accommodation, books. The Trust provides the Students an opportunity to enhance their lives as young South African women . We believe the Trust instills a drive in the student that they should never give up, even though things may seem impossible at the time.

“No one knows what the future holds and your opportunity may just be around the corner.”

Meet the Trustee's

"I have always believed that true empowerment is achieved through education. I therefore feel quite privileged to be associated with the SEDISA BWO Education Trust in my capacity as trustee. I am particularly proud of the fact that we are working towards addressing the gender inequality that currently exists in the workplace through the granting of bursaries to black females specifically. By affording these intelligent young women the opportunity to study, we are contributing, in our own small way, to the education and development of the future young women leaders of tomorrow. I also feel quite honoured to be a part of a company like KAEFER, who have recognised the need for business to proactively get involved in the development of our fellow South Africans and more especially Black Women."

Viloshini Pillay

"The funding provided by the Trust provides young women of colour opportunities to excel and realise their full potential. One of the greatest ways in which South African will overcome limitations such as poverty and inequality, is through education. The trust provides the most dis-enfranchised members of society an opportunity to gain the necessary tools to empower themselves and those around them. Knowing that I'm involved with transforming the lives of young women and empowering them, is both enriching and rewarding."
